  An Act of Parliament

The Adelaide Park Lands Act 2005 established a legislative framework that promotes the special status, attributes and character of the Adelaide Park Lands, and provides for their protection and management as a globally-important asset to be preserved as an urban park for the benefit of present and future generations.

To read the Act, search for it at Legislation SA website. The Act establishes an advisory group, the Adelaide Park Lands Authority, to aid in the management of the Park Lands. This body, with representation from the state government, the Council and the community, is set up under the aegis of the Adelaide City Council. At the invitation of the responsible Minister, APPA submitted nominations for an appointment to the Authority.

The Authority began its work in 2007. Its special fund for looking after the Park Lands was given a kick-start by APPA when it made the historic first donation to the fund in May 2008.
